Art Draw and Paint

Art 1 is a course that gives basic two-dimensional instruction in drawing and painting. The vocabulary of basic design will be covered, and art history is introduced as applied to projects and course content.
Art 2/3 is a continuation of Art I/2 Painting, with emphasis on in-depth studies of various painting and drawing techniques, portraiture, and figure drawing. Students may work on contest work to be exhibited and collaborative projects on campus.
Art 4 will be an emphasis on development of skills, production of artwork for individual portfolios, and exhibition of artwork in area art shows. Example-Protégé art contest.

Supplies for projects will be provided, but students may bring their own personal items.
Supplies for the classroom are not required, but would be much appreciated.

PROJECTS
(Tentative)
As time allows, we will study basic drawing skills and painting techniques, color theory, figure drawing, watercolor painting, along with other two-dimensional projects based on the elements and principles of art.

GRADING
Grades are based on the amount of participation and progress in both quality and quantity achieved during class. Daily grades will determine 40% of your grade. Project/test grades are taken during and at the end of projects based on the student’s individual achievement of project goals. Project/test grades will determine 60% of your grade.
